A suit size is your chest measurement plus a length: 40R is a 40" chest, regular length. S short is for under 5'8", R regular 5'8"–6', L long over 6'. Trousers come with the standard 6" drop (a 42 jacket ships with 36" waist trousers) and an unfinished hem.

Slim: higher armhole, narrower lapel, tapered leg — for slimmer builds or a modern line. Classic / regular: fuller chest, straight leg — the most comfortable and the most forgiving. Portly / big & tall: extra room through chest and waist with a proportioned shoulder. If you're between two, take the larger chest — waist and sleeves are easy alterations, chest isn't.

Yes, free on suits and dress pants. Add your inseam in the order notes — or your height and shoe size and we'll work it out. Sleeves and waists we do in person at 6 N Centre St.

By neck and sleeve. Measure around the base of the neck and add ½"; sleeve is from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder, to the wrist bone. 32/33 sleeve fits up to about 5'10"; 34/35 for 5'11"–6'2"; 36/37 above.

Satin (or grosgrain) lapel, a matching stripe down the trouser, black bow tie, cummerbund or waistcoat with the pleats facing up, no belt, plain white shirt. Our Tuxedos collection has the jacket-and-trouser sets; email us if you need the whole kit matched.

Yes, in store. Alterations (hems, sleeves, waists, uniforms, formalwear) are a walk-in service at the shop, not an online product — bring the garment in.

Hang it on a wide wooden hanger and let it rest a day between wears. Brush it; don't wash it. Dry clean only when it's actually dirty — two or three times a year is plenty — and steam out creases rather than ironing. Keep the trousers folded over a bar hanger along the crease.

A little. Wear them around the house for an evening or two before a long day. Use cedar shoe trees between wears and rotate pairs — leather needs a day to dry out. Polish every few wears; resole rather than replace.
