A dress shirt fits when the buttoned collar leaves room for one finger and the cuff ends at the wrist bone. Bohorad's sizes its 16 shirts by neck and sleeve, priced $30 to $59.

How do I measure my neck and sleeve size?

• Neck: measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits, with one finger under the tape. A 15 1/2 is a 15.5-inch neck.
• Sleeve: measure from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder and down to the wrist, with the arm relaxed.
• By height: sleeve 32/33 fits up to about 5'10", 34/35 fits 5'11" to 6'2", and 36/37 fits taller men.

Some shirts in this collection use letter sizes from XS to 5XL instead of a neck size, so check the size list on each product.

Which collar and fit should I choose?

A spread or cutaway collar leaves room for a wider tie knot and looks right with a suit; we carry it in a white slim fit shirt and in blue windowpane and blue stripe. A point collar is narrower and more casual, as on the peach and green linen shirts. Twelve of the 16 shirts are slim fit, and the lavender purple shirt is regular fit.

What shirt goes with a suit or tuxedo?

For interviews, church and funerals, a white or light blue shirt under a navy or charcoal suit is the safe choice. Black tie calls for a plain white shirt with a black tuxedo. Striped and check shirts look best with solid men's suits.

What about short sleeves and warm weather?

The collection also has short sleeve knitted cotton shirts in red, purple and brown stripes, and dress collar cotton performance polos in white, peach and heather sky blue. These are for warm days and casual Fridays, not for wearing under a jacket and tie.
