Portly fit is cut with extra room through the chest and waist while keeping the shoulder in proportion, so the jacket closes without looking oversized. Bohorad's big and tall collection currently holds two portly fit items, priced from $40 to $300.
What is the difference between portly and big and tall?
Big and tall is the broad label for larger and longer sizes. Portly fit is a specific cut for men whose waist is close to their chest measurement, with more room in the chest and waist and a shoulder that still fits. A standard suit has a 6-inch drop, so a 42 jacket comes with a 36-inch waist, which is often too tight for a portly build.
What sizes are available?
Size options in this collection include jacket chest sizes 42 to 54 in Short length, for men under 5'8", and trouser waists from 36W to 48W. Between two chest sizes, take the larger one: the waist and sleeves are easy to alter, the chest is not.
What about the portly dress pants?
The black pinstriped flat front pants are labeled washable and come in waist by inseam sizes from 40X30 to 52X30, with 32-inch inseams in several waists. Dress pants are hemmed free before shipping when you add your inseam to the order notes. Hemmed pants cannot be returned for a wrong size or change of mind.
Where can I find more fits?
Our full men's suits collection includes 65 classic fit suits with a fuller chest and straight leg, and some list a separate trouser waist, such as 48R/42W. More trousers are in men's dress pants, with waists up to 52.
Sleeve, waist and other alterations are done in store at 6 N Centre St, Pottsville, PA. Orders of $60 or more travel free within the U.S.
